| In 2000, Deafax,
together with 8 other organisations from the Czech Republic,
Belgium and Austria set up a project called "The Internet
as a Potential Source of New Employment Possibilities for
the Deaf" which was funded, under the Leonardo initiative,
by the European Union.
The main aims of the project were to develop methods and
skills to enable deaf people throughout Europe to use the
Internet and e-mail to improve their employment prospects.
The partners were developing courses in their respective
national languages and English on computer and Internet literacy,
the basis of typography and web page design.
The target groups for this project were school leavers in
the partner countries.
Deafax gathered together a team of deaf people with educational
knowledge and skills to evaluate the courses which were formulated
by the European partners. |
